I have attended abacus lessons twice a week at Abacus Calgary since I was four years old and have kept up with it through to the end of high school. Sensei Hatakeyama patiently taught me, once a restless young child, to sit still and practice with diligence. Through twelve years of abacus training, I have of course gained mathematical abilities, but also was able to train an invaluable mindset.
