The League for Soroban Education of America was formed with a single goal in mind: to become an avenue of support and accreditation for the outstanding Soroban Abacus math schools and educators that are bringing the ancient teachings of Japanese Abacus into the lives of the children in America. â€‹

As the demand for Soroban Abacus education continuously grows in the U.S., so does the number of teaching institutions, franchises, and other unofficial ways of teaching and handling the Abacus.

There was then a great need to put basic standards in place and guarantee that parents who want their children to learn the Abacus, will receive the proven and highest level of Soroban Abacus education.

The League was established in 1997 with seven schools and we have been growing ever since. Our Board of Directors constantly works to improve the standards of teaching.
